Family picnic

A family picnic is the best we can do together as a family while enjoying different activities. What a beautiful start of the new year – spending the priceless moments with your loving family! Recently we attended SG50 Family picnic organized at The Istana!

Families for life has organised first ever SG50 picnic to mark the 50th year celebrations and an event which brings all the family members together is the best. This is just when everyone has started coming to the event.

There were close to 2,000 people at Istana to enjoy this family picnic. All the families were given the SG50 family pack bag with picnic goodies like picnic mat, food etc. and there was another section where you can purchase your picnic basket at a nominal price.

Aayan was excited to open and see his picnic bag.

The weather was just perfect to eat, play, relax and enjoy the activities.Kaira was busy playing with her balloon.

For toddlers there were small slides, see-saw, swings to keep them happily engaged.
For for older kids there was a bouncy castle and a soccer zone as well.

There was a wishing ball to write your messages, heritage games, caricaturist, photo booth and make your own terrarium.President Tony Tan Keng Yam graced the event.

It was close to 3 hours event and kids were really tired by end of the day and we too !

Our sweet little Terrarium happily sitting near our window!

Couldn’t get a pic together so here we are ! – Family together

  1. What a great way to spend time with your family!. I love that they have included everything you need for a family picnic, from food and drink to entertain. The kids would have a blast!

  2. Going out to family picnics has declined in our country because there are less parks to go to and more big malls being built. I wish they have this kind of event here because I believe these are what we need from time-to-time; a quality time with family and nature. We need fresh air and relaxation at least once a month.

  3. Can't remember the last family picnic I went to, I prefer those than going to the mall or just eating out. We get to cook our own food which is way healthier. Looks like your whole family enjoyed!

  4. This seems like a fun activity for family bonding! 🙂 It's been so long since the last time I had a picnic with my family. And like Louise said, there are more malls in where we live. Anyway, your post really inspired me to go on a picnic soon. Will try and organize one for me, my partner and our closest friends. 🙂

  5. Going out with the family! I wanna do this soon! As we all grow old, me and my siblings find it hard to gather in the same place at the same time. Tsk tsk tsk. We are scattered across the world. And yeah, this makes me miss my family.

Such a wonderful event. Helps promote value for family!

  6. I didn't grow up going to picnics so this is an activity that I find to be tons of fun. It's a nice activity to do with family – different from the usual mall trips.

  7. The green grass looks stunning! I remember we used to spend picnic time in CCP compound before. It was always a simple yet fun bonding time with the family -KarenT

  8. Very nice day out for a picnic with the kids. We enjoyed that when they were that age. But now the traffic and the responsibilities at work (both for parents and kids) have cut into our picnic time.

  9. Picnic at the park with your family is great. When my kids a re younger, we used to have a regular weekend date at the park. BTW, you have a lovely and happy family, mate.

  10. Ah, Singapore efficiency at it's best 🙂 I am glad you had an early start to the sg50 celebrations! For myself I am trying to decide – heed the call to stay in town for the National day long weekend, or use that precious 5 days for a trip? Ah, decisions, decisions 🙂

    Best, Ling Tan

  12. I love picnics too!! Every time my hubby asks me where should we go, I will always end up with… "Picnic?" It looks super fun to be having a whale of a family time at the Istana.. such a special place!

  13. I remembered the times when we went for our first walk in to Istana open house.. No picnic for us then but it was still fun to run on the grass patch! Yours looks fun!

  14. Looking at your pictures made me wish we had hazeless skies again. I miss picnics, outdoor play and just being OUT AND ABOUT WITHOUT A MASK!
