Compote

Aug12,2014
Compote
I was reading a book other day and came
across this word ” Compote ” which in french means
“mixture”.
It is actually a dessert in France made by slowly cooking with variation of
fruits- dry fruits, fresh fruits, sugar syrup, juice or water.
So thought of giving a try
to this mixture which can be used in a million ways – as a dressing in a salad, topping on the whipped cream, overnight oats porridge, ice cream, pancake
and many more.
You can use this mixture in
preparing lot of baby dishes where you need to sweeten the food. I didn’t follow any particular recipe here and prepared just
using my estimates.
Ingredients
Dry fruits (Cashew, raisin,
almond)-3 tbsp (grounded)
Cranberry-2 tsp
Apple- 1 diced
Orange Juice (Squeezed)- 2
Strawberry-2
Blueberry- handful
Water- 1 cup
Cinnamon stick-1
Method
Place all the ingredients
in a small pan, set it over medium heat, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes,
stirring it occasionally.
Check whether fruit is still hard , add water if it looks dry.
Remove the mixture and mix
it well. For babies ( puree it and use as a base for various recipes).
Serve warm or chilled.
Store in refrigerator for 3
days or freeze upto 1 month.
In this recipe i have pureed it for baby.
