Homemade Khoya / Mawa

Nov9,2013

From a long time, I was thinking to prepare khoya/mawa at home because here in Singapore you usually won’t find khoya easily unless you will make a trip to Indian supermarket and especially during the festive time it is out of stock or you will end up standing in the Queue. Khoya/mawa is basically made from milk by evaporating it and reduced to a thick grainy texture. It is used in many Indian sweet recipes.

This time gave a try to prepare my homemade khoya as I had no time to visit the market at this odd hours.

Ingredients

Full cream Milk-1 Litre

1-litre milk will yield around 200grams of khoya.

Method
1. Take full cream milk in a heavy bottom pan and boil it.

2. When it will start boiling reduce the flame and in between keep stirring so that it won’t stick to the bottom.

3. After around 35 minutes it will become thicker and you will see no water.

4.Here is our homemade khoya/mawa.
