Tahini is a simple blend of sesame and olive oil. It is an excellent source of copper, manganese and is a good source of the healthy fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6.

TahiniTahini is relatively high levels of calcium and protein make it a useful addition to vegetarian and vegan diets.

I always find making one at home is cost effective and you know the exact ingredients in your recipe. Another thing is you won’t be buying in a large quantity just to store it for so long when you have an option to quickly make at home.

Tahini is one of the main ingredients in preparing Hummus

Ingredients
Sesame seed – 1 cup
Olive oil- 1/4 cup

Method
Dry roast sesame seeds until lightly brown. Add sesame seeds to the processor along with olive oil to make a thick smooth consistency yet pourable.

You can store Tahini in an airtight container in a refrigerator for a couple of months.
