Halloween Spooky Witch Fingers

Halloween Spooky Witch fingers for that scary evening party. Halloween is celebrated on the night of October 31 and the word  Halloween is a shortening of All Hallows’ Evening also known as Hallowe’en or All Hallows’ Eve.The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.Halloween Spooky Witch Fingers

Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition. Traditional activities include trick-or-treating, bonfires, costume parties, visiting “haunted houses” and carving jack-o-lanterns. Masks and costumes were worn in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or appease them.

In a number of countries around the world, as the days grow shorter and the nights get colder, people continue to usher in the winter season with gatherings, costumes and sweet treats.
You will find Jack-o-lanterns, masks, Halloween candies and goodies everywhere.
To match the festive spirit my enthusiastic son wants to bake something unusual for Halloween, so Mumma’s search started and ended with this recipe from Martha Stewart.
Halloween Spooky Witch Fingers

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour- 1 2/3 cups
  • Almonds-30 blanched
  • Eggs- 2 large
  • Vanilla extract-1/4 teaspoon
  • Unsalted butter (1 stick )-8 tablespoons room temperature
  • Confectioners’ sugar/Powdered sugar-1/2 cup +3 tbsp
  • Pinch of salt

Method 

  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees and line it with parchment paper.
  2. Separate 1 egg and keep aside the white portion. In a small bowl whisk egg yolk, remaining egg and vanilla. Set aside.
3. In the bowl using the electric mixer or hand mixer combine butter, sugar and salt. Beat it on medium speed until it is well combined.
4. Add egg mixture and beat until smooth for 2 minutes. Add the flour and make a dough. Chill until it is firm for around 20-30 minutes in a refrigerator. ( Dough will be smooth).
5. Divide the dough in half and keep the rest chilled and wrapped. Make around 15 portions of it.
6. On a lightly floured surface roll it in the shape of fingers. around 3-4 inches long. With a knife and hands make the shape and knuckles.
7. Transfer them to the baking sheet and lightly brush them with egg white. Position almond nails and press them.
8. Bake until it is lightly brown for around 10-12 minutes.
It was fun baking it with my son and he enjoyed it a lot. You can colour the nails in red as the original recipe has nails in red colour.

  1. I’m not a big fan of Halloween since it’s not in our culture, but I appreciate the creativity that you have inserted as it exactly rhyme to the theme of Halloween.
    Amazingly done and would love to take that one finger and try.
